The Invictus!

Hello Friends,

Welcome to my blog 1Beginner!

The whole life is about learning. The more I am learning, I am feeling that there are too many things to learn & one life is not enough. today morning, I came across the wonderful poem that moved my heart. I must have read this 10 times. I am sure you must have heard few statement of this poem in the speeches of legends & in the text books or somewhere, but today I feel it necessary to revisit the original artwork. Its an exceptional piece for art which has been inspiring people from last many generations & its still inspiring. I am sure it would move you as well.

It is the short Victorian poem written by English poet William Ernest Henley in year 1873-74. The poetry is also known as Invictus, which is the notable work by the poet who penned down these words while he was struggling in his life.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
